HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – Get out your green because it’s St. Patrick’s Day! Murphy’s Bar & Grill is putting on its annual block party downtown to celebrate!

Nuuanu Ave. and Merchant St. will be closed so thousands of people dressed in green can celebrate! The block party starts at noon with food and lots of games for the keiki! Don Murphy from Murphy’s Bar & Grill joins us in the kitchen and cooks up some corned beef that you’ll be able to get at the party! They’re also donating portions of the proceeds from the corned beef they sell during the month of March to the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation.  For more information visit Murphy’s website.

3-person canoe up for auction in cancer foundation fundraiser

This is one silent auction that is sure to be popular with Hawaii’s water sports community.

The Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation’s “Rock-n-Roll I Can Cer Vive” fundraiser next Friday at the Royal Hawaiian features a 3-person canoe (above) by Jay Dowsett and a Triple Crown of Surfing Randy Rarick mini-tanker surfboard specifically built for the event.

Other items include standup paddleboards and surfboards, and canoe and yacht excursions. The event begins at 6 p.m. and includes a Surf Line Hawaii, Ltd/Jams World fashion show, music, pupu and cocktails.

Tickets are $130 and can be purchased online at hccf.org or by calling 528-5161.

Photographs can reveal what words and ink cannot. They can capture a precise moment in time and tie it up into one tiny, neat package that can go anywhere and last for ages.

James Anshutz knows the power a picture holds, which is why the renowned photographer has donated his time and talents to the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation for “Exposures,” a poster exhibit featuring some of Hawaii’s families that are dealing with the realities of childhood cancer.

To raise awareness of September as Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation will display portraits of some of the island keiki who are currently battling cancer, those who have survived it and those who live on in our hearts after losing their battles with the disease. As the only organization in the state that focuses exclusively on supporting children with cancer and their families, the foundation aims to raise awareness about childhood cancer and how it impacts our island families through display of these uplifting portraits by photographer James Anshutz.

Friday, August 27 through Tuesday, Sept. 7.  Pearlridge Center Uptown, lower level between See’s Candies and Zales.

As part of the national Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, the Hawaii Children’s Cancer Foundation (HCCF) will be sharing its “Exposures” photo exhibit, featuring HCCF families as seen through the lens of local photographer James Anshutz, through a poster campaign at various locations.  Come see these amazing photographs at the following dates and locations:

August 27-September 7:  HCCF Poster Campaign at Pearlridge Center Uptown
September 3:  HCCF Poster Campaign at First Friday in Chinatown (Mendonca Building, 1109 Maunakea Street near Rosarina Pizza)
September 3-19:  HCCF Poster Campaign at Kahala Mall (near Longs)
September 4:  HCCF Table at Kahala Mall Center Court, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m
